FOUR WAYS TO HELP

Take action

Most of these take five minutes. Start at the top: it has the nearest deadline.

1 · Don’t let the City silence the Orca Appeal

DEADLINE · NOV 2

Ask the City to keep its promise

The Orca Appeal asks for a hearing on the environmental impacts of Seattle’s Comprehensive Plan. The City Attorney now plans to seek dismissal under CB 121215 (now Ordinance 127477).

Before that law passed, its sponsor, Councilmember Eddie Lin, publicly said the appeal should go forward and that he would urge the City Attorney to let it proceed.

“I believe that [the Orca Appeal] should go forward…” — CM Lin, at about 2:48:42 in the Council recording

Subject: Honor the Council’s Commitment: Do Not Dismiss the Orca Appeal

Dear Seattle City Attorney and City Councilmembers,

I am asking the City of Seattle to honor the public promise of an elected official. Councilmember Eddie Lin, sponsor of CB 121215, assured Council and residents that his legislation was not intended to stop the Orca Appeal and that he would urge the City Attorney to let it proceed.

Please honor that commitment and allow the Orca Appeal a full and fair hearing before the Hearing Examiner. Only the Hearing Examiner process allows expert testimony and scientific evidence, and the public deserves to know whether the City’s environmental decisions rest on a complete and accurate review.

Thank you,
